Lilikoi

Lilikoi is my candy.

I open the outer layer with my teeth, and then I suck out the inside and use my tongue. Sometimes I use a finger to get the rest of the fruit out.

Today I was gifted four lilikoi.

What lilikoi is

Lilikoi is passion fruit that grows on a vine. To me the flower is beautiful.

The inside of a lilikoi is a soft pulp full of seeds. The pulp and seeds are eaten together. The seeds crunch.

Lilikoi nutrients

Lilikoi gives your body fiber, vitamin C, vitamin A, and potassium.

Most of the fiber in a lilikoi is in the seeds. Eating the seeds along with the pulp is how your body receives that fiber.

Lilikoi can have a strong sour taste along with the sweet taste. That sour comes from the acid in the fruit.

Where lilikoi grows here

Where I live, lilikoi grows on vines that climb fences, plants, and trees. When a lilikoi is ripe, the fruit falls to the ground. Most of the lilikoi I eat come from the ground. Sometimes I am given lilikoi.

You are welcome to eat lilikoi.
