Just Food

Today when I sat down to eat, I thought, “I’m just eating food.”

The bread I toasted in the morning is now soggy because of the liquid from the meats and pesto. I enjoy eating soggy bread that absorbed yummy flavors.

The meat is ground beef and ground sausage I cooked together last week in a crockpot. This is the last of any cooked meat I have, so I’ll be using the crockpot again soon to cook more meat.

The pesto I got from a woman at the farmers market last week. She makes the pesto almost every week, and she can rely on me to buy it from her.

I had a little piece of blue cheese left so I added it to my meal. I enjoy the periodic taste of the cheese’s sharpness.

There is a small collection of avocados outside where I’m living because a tree is dropping the avocados daily. So I added a fresh avocado.

The last of a bunch of greens, bok choy and mustard greens, are also part of the meal. I’m not the biggest fan of the spicy greens, but I know they are nourishing my body. So whatever their taste is, I’m just aware and grateful.

This meal is just food I had ready to be eaten. With less time this morning to pack my lunch, I put in my container what was available. And now I’m just eating and nourishing the body. That is enough.

You are welcome to eat just food.
