An Experience with Community

One slightly cloudy day in March, I packed the car up and drove to the town’s local airport. It’s a great open and quiet area to be. Sometimes from the airport, you can hear the waves hit against the rocky cliffs even though you don’t see the ocean.

On this particular day, I had plans to sit in the back of the car and do some work. When I arrived at the airport, no one was there. I set up the back of the car and began working, editing and transferring content.

Within an hour, I noticed a friend was at the airport. She was making an effort to call for assistance. A huge tree had fallen over on some lines and had sparked a possible small fire.

This was the beginning of an extremely windy day that was followed by days and days of storms. (Storms that included intense thunder and lightening and over 50 inches of rain.)

The area I have the honor to live in has a community that looks out for each other. So immediately, people responded to the possible sparked fire and began responding in other places where trees were blocking roads.

The two roads that would allow me to leave the airport area and return “home” were both blocked by massive trees. I was offered different places to leave the car and walk “home” if I desired. I chose to believe one of the roads would open up. And a road did become clear to drive through.

After 6 hours of a road blocked and with rain falling, some people in the community cleared away the tree and I started my drive back “home”.

That day of wind was a beautiful reminder to me that I have the privilege to be part of a community who takes care of each other, and each person plays a part in the community as both a giver and receiver.

Thank you for being part of this online community.

Aloha

New Yoga Blog: Warrior 1 Pose

Warrior 1 was an extremely challenging pose for me to practice. My body does not naturally move into the position. And I had intense uncomfortableness with holding the pose. I have heard someone repeatedly say, “What’s hard becomes easy.” I am happy to say I no longer cry and feel my head is going to explode when practicing Warrior 1. I actually like the pose now, even though I am still learning how to get into the position.

Fun Personal Learning for You: Tony Robbins

For someone who is into transforming myself, you would think I would know all about Tony Robbins. Nope. My life has not intersected with his teachings until this past January. For the past 3 months, I have listened to Tony Robbins about 50% of the days. If you are like me and new to him, I recommend researching ‘Tony Robbins’ on YouTube and Spotify, and listen to what interests you. Enjoy learning from someone who has learned a lot himself.
